Continuing on the journey from Macomb Mountain, we started on the shortest Mountain to Mountain climb we had for the Dix range.... Macomb mountain to South Dix which was a .9 mile hike into a small col and back up. There was not much to see or do other than the usual hike down into the col between the two mountains and climb back up to the summit of the other one. Considering that South Dix was only .9 miles away you can imagine that this was a very quick and easy jaunt. And that assumption is correct.. we reached our 17th High peak in just an hours time with much better views than that of Macomb Mountain's views.
We all took pictures of the views that we had, as well of each other to document our successful summit of the Trail-less summit of South Dix, being number 17 out of the 46 high peaks. From this point Andrea and Dad decided to drop out packs at the junction of south dix, east dix, and Hough Peak, to go over to East Dix without any heavy packs. To follow on with our Dix range journey you can go to the Adirondack 46er page and click on East Dix or by Clicking here!!!
South Dix : 4060 Feet
Elevation Gained :
Timing : .9 miles (45 min) *distance from Macomb Mountain
